Assemble Maker Date
The MakerDate Auction is Assemble’s annual fundraiser. This year, it will take place on September 7th at The Maverick. It takes the idea of a “date auction” & turns it upside-down to match people with local artists, crafters, scientists, technologists, & experts across many fields to learn a new skill or craft something amazing; it’s like a play-date for grown-ups!
Rebecca will be offering a mending class to the winner of the Old Flame Mending date auction.
Monies raised during the night will support Assemble’s free educational programming to empower people to create, connect, learn, & transform together. The possibilities are endless at MakerDate. It’s truly an experiential event!

Talk: Why Mending is Important with Remake
Overproduction, overconsumption, and waste are a huge problem within the fashion industry, with consumers throwing away an average of 70 pounds (of clothing and shoes) annually. This problem can't be solved overnight, but we can all take part in reducing our impact; lengthening the lives of our clothing.
Join us on August 22nd at 4:00 pm PST / 7:00 pm EST to learn The Importance of Mending with Rebecca Harrison, Founder & Lead Sewist at Old Flame Mending. Throughout the program, we will learn about Rebecca and why she founded Old Flame Mending, about the 10,000+ pieces she has saved, and what it is like to be a professional mender full-time.
