Hand Darning (Sweater Mending) at Sam's Vintage Sun, Feb 16th, 6pm- 8pm
Sunday, February 16, 6:00pm- 8:00pm EST
Learn to darn! If you have holes in your sweaters or socks, we can help you learn how to fix them yourself!
This is a hands-on workshop- please come prepared with 1-3 garments to mend. Holes should be no bigger than the size of a clementine/mandarin orange. We highly recommend starting with a sweater, but you can also mend items like socks, knit scarves, and medium weight wovens (i.e. cotten flannel, wool flannel, linen, gauzy fabrics).
Denim, lightweight fabrics, t-shirt material, leather/suede do not work well with this technique.
Materials list:
-darning egg
-yarn or embroidery floss
-variety of needles: darning, tapestry, embroidery
-scissors or snips
*materials available for purchase in our kit—- if you purchase a kit, select “local pickup” as the fulfillment option and we’ll have it ready for you at Sam’s Vintage!
